Credit union employees, members, and third parties need a credible channel to report suspected misconduct without fear of retaliation. The PCMLTFA, provincial credit union legislation, and various employment statutes all support and protect such reporting. This course equips credit union compliance, HR, legal, and management teams to operate a whistleblower program that is actually used. It covers channel design, intake and triage, investigation, anti-retaliation safeguards, and recordkeeping. Realistic credit union scenarios — including potential structuring by a member, internal fraud, and conflict of interest in lending — are used to illustrate operation of the program.

You will learn the legal protections available to whistleblowers in Canada, how to design and operate an internal channel, how to triage and investigate reports, how to prevent and remediate retaliation, and how to document the program.
