This course is designed for professionals working in or managing Money Services Businesses (MSBs) in Canada who are required to comply with the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and FINTRAC regulations. It is essential for compliance officers, owners, directors, managers, and frontline employees responsible for handling transactions, identifying customers, and implementing compliance programs.
The AML/ATF Compliance Training for MSBs provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of Canada’s anti-money laundering (AML) and anti-terrorist financing (ATF) regulatory framework. The course explores the role of FINTRAC, the requirements of the PCMLTFA, and the obligations of MSBs as reporting entities. Through real-world examples and practical guidance, learners will gain insight into how money laundering and terrorist financing occur, the risks facing MSBs, and how to build an effective compliance program. Topics include the three stages of money laundering, client identification and verification, recordkeeping, recognizing suspicious transactions, red flags, and reporting obligations such as STRs, EFTRs, and LCTRs. Participants will also learn about the consequences of non-compliance, including administrative and criminal penalties, and the importance of a proactive compliance culture within their organization.
