EXPLORE PROGRAMS
Bank employees are a critical line of defence against misconduct — from AML failings, to mis-selling, to internal fraud. The PCMLTFA, the Bank Act, and OSFI's expectations on culture and conduct all support the existence of credible internal whistleblower channels, and the legal protections for whistleblowers in Canada continue to expand. This course equips bank compliance, HR, legal, and management teams to operate a whistleblower program that employees and contractors actually trust and use. It covers the design of the channel, intake and triage, investigation, anti-retaliation safeguards, and documentation that withstands regulator scrutiny. Realistic banking scenarios — from a relationship manager observing structuring, to an analyst noticing falsified KYC — are used to illustrate operation of the program.

You will learn the legal protections available to whistleblowers in Canada and how they apply to bank employees and contractors, how to design and operate an internal channel, how to triage and investigate reports, and how to prevent and remediate retaliation.
