Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) is one of the strictest consent-based marketing regimes in the world. MSBs that send promotional rates, FX alerts, referral incentives, or onboarding nudges by email or SMS are sending Commercial Electronic Messages (CEMs) and must comply. This course explains, in plain language, when CASL applies, how to obtain and document express or implied consent, what each CEM must include in terms of identification and unsubscribe, and how to manage unsubscribe requests within the statutory timeline. It also covers the related computer-program installation rules and the CRTC's enforcement record so MSBs can size their compliance investment appropriately.

You will learn how to identify a CEM, how to obtain valid express or implied consent, how to format identification and unsubscribe content, how to manage your consent and unsubscribe records, and what to do if a CRTC complaint or enforcement action arises.
